As many of you know, I've made some noises of concern about running out of 'room' for new planets. The mods have put their heads together and come up with a few ideas we'd like to share with everyone and feel out what you all think, as well as get your input as well.
If anyone's curious, the reason we'd like to keep a cap on how many player made planets there are is because eventually we could wind up with 60+ and it'd make the board look extremely cluttery and hard to navigate.
So here are some of the ideas that have been batted around. Some may be implemented right away others over time, and some ideas may be combined.
First line of defense: Ask people if they are willing to sacrifice their planets. If that doesn't yield enough space for newcomer planets....
Limiting planets to just 1 per player, your previous planet must be destroyed to make a new one. (If a player has had a planet in the past and it was removed from play, they have to wait X amount of time after planet loss before they can try to buy another to give other players opportunity.)
Systematic destruction of older planets (via mini-plot.)
As needed 'vote offs' to decide which planets to ask to be destroyed.
Deleting older planets that do not meet a certain threshold of activity.
Putting planet creation as a semi-regular event with 'vote for this planet' as a means of determining who gets the limited slots.
Straight up votes on every planet before creation. Must get a certain amount of approval before it can be created.
For players who already own a planet, don't want to give it up, but have some neat ideas, allow the suggestion of said planet ideas but someone else has to pay/run it.
