VENDETTA
{{There is a lot to read in this thread, but you may skip the fourth section (I will explain those as we go) and the second, though the latter only if you've played mafia before! A fair warning, as this is based around murder it will have descriptions of gore, but not anything excessive.}}
And as the metaphorical smoke cleared, the world simply felt wrong.
That same pressure that intense glitching caused crowded out the air, pushing in from all sides. The more sensitive would get nasty headaches. The rest would simply feel a growing apprehension. Either way, it was certain that whatever had just happened, the Glitch would never be the same. Moments before everything had been chaos and confusion, but now all was still, even if it appeared as though it had been torn in two and shoved back together haphazardly. There was no one in sight.
Evidence had recently revealed a group of players who sought to end the war between factions in an extreme manner - by eliminating everything. This Eradicator faction had been wiped out quickly, though it was now clear that the survivors were still clinging to the last shreds of their ideals. The recent glitch storm had been a part of their original plan, and who else could have caused such a devastating event? Whatever they had done to initiate it, it had been an overwhelming success.
The survivors gathered on a meteor in the Veil, knowing very well that the culprits were among them. But could they figure out who to kill before the Eradicators succeeded, or was the Glitch doomed to start from the beginning?
For those of you who've played a game of mafia before, congratulations! Have fun. For those of you who haven't, I'll explain in just a moment.
Your characters are the few survivors of a massive storm that swept the Glitch, killing most of the inhabitants and leaving the place a royal mess. The Eradicators, a small, secretive faction which aims to reset the Glitch by murdering everyone in it, are the irrefutable cause. There is still a handful of them left, and while they know who each other are, their identities are unknown to anyone outside of their group. If you're a victim, your goal is to find out who the Eradicators are and kill them. If you're an Eradicator, you want to kill everyone who isn't one of yours and divert their attention from the real culprits before they find out who you are. There's a catch, though - Eradicators are the smaller group, but they will know who other Eradicators are and so strategy is their greatest weapon.
Each round there will be a day period (48 hours) and a night period (24 hours). Every morning, I will make a post explaining who died with clues as to who killed them. During the day, players will discuss who the clues point towards (or try to frame a scapegoat if they're an Eradicator) and then vote on who to lynch in the thread. The character with the most votes against them will die the next morning. During the night, the Eradicators will discuss who to kill via PM and then PM me with their votes. The same thing happens here - their victim will die in the morning. In addition, any character with a class power may use it during this time. In the event of a tie, I will use a RNG to determine who is killed. Whichever group is the last standing wins.
RULES
- This is semi-IC. Most posts will be similar to actual RPing, though you're welcome to speculate OOC if it's easier as long as you differentiate it from IC posts. Assume that your character knows anything that you know in regards to the game. Since this is non-canon, it won't matter later.
- You can sign up as anyone that you'd like, Glitch, canon, or a completely unrelated character! As long as you fill out the form, you're good.
- To simplify things, none of the characters have their powers (besides role ones). You can fly if you want, that's about it.
- You may have up to five items in your sylladex. Just don't try to kill anyone with them during discussion and you're good.
- It's important that you don't share your class or alliance with anyone! The only exception to this is that sessionmates and Eradicators may swap classes with each other.
- One character per person! Unfortunately, since this is a mystery game it doesn't work well otherwise.
I need at least 13 people to play, but I'll keep signups open until September 10th! There is no player cap.Closed!
FORM
Name:
Species: Maybe a short description if they're not canon or in the custom race thread.
Appearance: Clothes, items they may keep on hand, striking features?
Weapon:
Sylladex: Up to five items!
Faction: Eradicator doesn't count. Preservationist, Ruinist, or Scavenger?
Personality: Be as detailed or brief as you want! Just give me enough so that I can write them accurately or don't get upset when I don't play them very well. This is only for morning posts.
PLANETS
The game starts in the Veil, though as the game progresses the characters will visit different planets to check for survivors. Each planet has a different glitch, of course. I'm only using the original planets and factions for simplicity, sorry!Prospit - Preservationists have a 1/3 chance of surviving a kill here.
LOSAL - Anyone who does not make a public vote this round will die in the morning. If you won't be here to vote, tell me and you'll be exempt!
LORAT - All evidence found here will point towards innocent characters, not guilty ones.
LOCAP - 1/4 of the people present will be unable to vote this round. I will PM you if you're affected.
LOSAM - All votes must be PMed to me this round.
LOHAS - One person's role will be revealed at random.
LOFAF - One person will be chosen at random to die this round due to the fires.
Skaia - Scavengers have a 1/3 chance of surviving a kill here.
LOJAS - Characters cannot discuss evidence in the thread this round, only vote. Rounds here will only last 24 hours with the absence of discussion.
LOPAE - Four votes will be randomized. I will not reveal who these four are.
LOJAI - Watch out for an abundance of red herrings!
LOGAS - Anyone who dies this round will be revived in the morning. However, what with roles, voting isn't useless!
LOGAH - All powers are disabled this round.
LOGAG - Everyone gains the power to sway another's vote once this round. If you're the Witch, you get to sway two votes.
Derse - Ruinists have a 1/3 chance of surviving a kill here.
ROLES
During the storm, everyone's class got changed! Strangely, some ended up without a class at all, or may instead have a special role. All class powers that aren't automatic will need to be PMed to me at night. You might be...Rogue - Each night, you may choose a class and someone to assign it to. The person's original class (or classlessness) will go to the person who originally had the class.
Thief - Each night, you may "steal" someone else's class. You may only steal one class per night, but you gain their powers until morning rolls around. The person you stole from retains their own powers.
Heir - (Automatic) You are safe from the first time someone tries to kill you, but the second time, all bets are off.
Maid - Maids get an extra vote each round, which they will PM to me.
Page - You may give someone else an extra vote each round. Choose wisely.
Knight - Each night, you may choose someone to protect. This character cannot die this round, though the powers of death-affected roles such as Heirs will still activate.
Seer - You may choose someone to investigate each round and I will give you their class and alliance (Eradicator or innocent). The alliances of the sessionmates and the clown will show up as innocent.
Mage - (Automatic) Upon your death, you will yell out a class and alliance you felt in your gut from the start! The class and alliance of a random player will be revealed. The clown and sessionmates will show up as innocent.
Sylph - Once per game, you may revive a player from the dead.
Witch - Once per round, you may change someone's vote to something else.
Bard - (Automatic) As long as you are alive, two classes per night will be swapped at random. Your own class is not exempt from this.
Prince - Once per night, you may kill someone on your own terms.
Sessionmates - Two players from the same session (not necessarily canonically). They would hate to see the other die and will only win if both are standing at the end of the game. Their victory will not override any other victory, and vice versa. The sessionmates will know who each other are, but they cannot be Eradicators.
Clown - This character has completely lost it. Their goal is to be the last one standing. Clowns are always classless, but they gain Prince powers and immunity from Eradicator votes. The only way to kill them is through public lynch.
