Derse: a nice place to visit, but they wouldn't want to live there. Or, Raven would like living there way too much to be healthy. Prospit was nice and orderly, and while they didn't put much emphasis on that kind of thing as a rule, it was a pretty low-stress place to live. Plus, their family was there. And when they did decide he'd like to be somewhere more permissive, Derse was just as a gate hop away.
That night, Raven was winding their way though Derse's bar scene, skipping the places that were too loud or that appealed more to the Raver set (the neon cocktails looked kind of neat, but he wasn't in the mood for them), and slipping into darkened dives with fedora-wearing Carapacians playing pool, more well-lit clubs with live jazz bands, and little hole in the wall brewpubs that served their own craft beer and played music on vinyl. Really, it was a pretty mellow way to spend a night out, and with a few good beers in them, Raven was feeling really mellow.
And possibly about to get more so. He leaned against a lamp post and tipped their pinstripe fedora back a little to see better as he fished a green-tinged cigarette and a heavy black and silver lighter out of their jacket's inside pocket. Some things were just so easy to get on Derse. Raven's iridescent, green-black lips curved into a smile as they lit up and took a slow drag, blowing the smoke upward so it wouldn't annoy anyone too much (not that he was the only person smoking outside). They weren't planning to smoke the whole thing, just a few puffs, and then they'ddecide flip a coin for where to go next.
