So, I had a kind of interesting faction idea - the Equalizers. This faction would quest in whichever way would push the planet to Normal glitching - currently Preservationist-allied for all planets except LOGAG, but that could change. The basic idea behind it would be:
Ruinists have some good points - namely, trying to end up with a glitch that works to the advantage of the players. But their current strategy - randomly glitching everything and hoping something good happens - is inefficient and costly. The solution, then, would be to study the glitches to see if they can be manipulated, and go from there - get a base to work off of instead of running in blind. However, because of the current conflicts, planets aren't staying stable for long enough to gather that information. Planets like LOSAM, with high Ruinist influence, have become so glitched as to be completely inhospitable. Planets like LOGAG, with high Preservationist influence, have almost no glitching to study at all. And planets somewhere in the middle are in a constant state of flux, changing glitching levels too fast for any good experimentation.
The solution to this would be to keep all planets at a Normal glitching level - studies could be conducted on glitches without flux or inhospitability getting in the way, while still leaving glitches to study. Theoretically, the Paladins have got the right idea - by not questing, they aren't changing the glitching levels of planets. The problem is, others are. So, to mitigate that, you must have a new faction. A faction which quests not to ruin, not to preserve, but simply to balance. To equalize. Some would join for the aforementioned purpose of studying and maybe using glitches. Others would see the Equalizers as restoring a sort of cosmic balance to the Glitch - returning everything to the way it was previously. No matter the reason, the goal remains the same - quest to change all glitching levels back to Normal level, and then keep them there.
So, I'm just putting this here to get a general sense of the idea towards this faction - good idea? Bad idea? Neither?
